What are the possible side effects of hylan G-F 20 (Synvisc)?

Notify your doctor immediately if you experience a rare but serious allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives) to hylan G-F 20.
Other less serious side effects may also occur. Talk to your doctor if you experience

temporary pain or swelling of the affected joint;
rash or bruising at the injection site;
headache; or
upset stomach.

SYNVISC® (hylan G-F 20) is an elastoviscous high molecular weight fluid
containing hylan A and hylan B polymers produced from chicken combs. Hylans
are derivatives of hyaluronan (sodium hyaluronate). Hylan G-F 20 is unique in
that the hyaluronan is chemically crosslinked. Hyaluronan is a long-chain polymer
